Request for Proposals (RFP) for Audience Development Consultation
Da Camera Singers is seeking proposals from firms or individual consultants to guide the development of a 5-year Audience Development Plan (ADP). Proposals can be submitted in PDF format to [email protected] no later than 30 Sep 2023. Questions pertaining to this RFP can be directed to Brendan Lord, Choir Administrator, at [email protected].
Proposals will be reviewed by the Da Camera Singers Board of Directors and staff. Meetings with firms/individuals shortlisted will begin on 15 Oct 2023 with the contract slated to begin 15 Nov 2023.
CONTEXT
Founded in 1961, Da Camera Singers is proud to be Edmonton’s longest-standing chamber choir, having upheld a vibrant presence as a choral pillar in our city’s arts and cultural community for more than six decades. Under the artistic direction of Laura Hawley, the choir’s programming encompasses a broad range of choral art including music from the Renaissance to today. New works hold an important place in the choir’s repertoire as is demonstrated through a longstanding commitment to commissioning and premiering pieces by Canadian and local composers. More information about the choir can be found at www.dacamerasingers.ca.
The choir’s commitment to improving the quality of life for Edmontonians is reflected in its current mission statement, “Building empathy and belonging to enrich our community with the power of choral music.” The 2022-2025 Strategic Plan identifies the development of an Audience Development Plan as a priority of the organization.
Da Camera Singers is a non-profit organization under the Societies Act and a registered charity. The organization has a management style Board of 8 members and 3 ongoing artistic/administrative contractors.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Leading up to the onset of the global pandemic and throughout the COVID recovery era, the choir’s audiences have been gradually shrinking. The choir is seeking guidance in the development of a comprehensive ADP to redeploy audiences and thereby more fully realizing its mission.
The contract term is 12-16 weeks to work with the organization’s Board and artistic/administrative contractors, and to solicit and receive input from key stakeholders. The consultant will serve as project lead, and the primary deliverable is a written ADP for the organization that includes the research, analysis, perceived opportunities, and strategies to be implemented intended to result in audience growth.
CONTENTS OF PROPOSAL
Da Camera Singers is open to working with individuals with a variety of backgrounds and experiences. The proposal will demonstrate that you are the right fit for this opportunity by providing an overview of the plan, structure, and delivery of the audience development planning process from start to finish. In particular, the proposal may include:
CONFLICT OF INTEREST
Proposals must include a statement addressing any potential or actual conflict of
interest of which the consultant/firm is aware. A statement is required even if the applicant believes no conflict of interest exists.
LOCATION OF WORK
We anticipate most of the work will take place remotely except for certain aspects of the stakeholder consultation process and the presentation of the final ADP.
PROPOSAL APPLICATION
In addition to the proposal, consultants are asked to provide a cover letter as a means of introducing themselves and, if applicable, their firm. References will be required of shortlisted firms/consultants but may be submitted alongside proposals at the firm’s/consultant’s discretion.
