Tammy-Jo Mortensen, Choir Administrator
Tammy-Jo Mortensen is an administrator who has been assisting arts organizations to grow and succeed for many years. She spent the last 5 years with the Korora Choir Association, and is thrilled to be continuing to enable choristers to sing and perform in the Edmonton area with the Da Camera Singers. She has also worked with organizations like the Robertson-Wesley Music Society, Sundays at 3 Organ Concerts, the University of Alberta, McGill Summer Organ Academy, Western Board of Music, and the Calgary International Organ Competition. Additionally, she has worked for dance and theatre companies, and has volunteered for the Royal Canadian College of Organists and local music festivals. Tammy-Jo is the Music Editor of the United Church of Canada's Gathering magazine, and hosts a radio show "Maple Infused Classic Breakfast" on bigeradio.com on Saturdays at 11 am MT.
Tammy-Jo has masters degrees in music in Pipe Organ (McGill) and Choral Conducting (University of Alberta) and an extensive church music background as music director, organist and pianist, choir director, singer, handbell ringer and conductor. She is now the Music Director at The Anglican Parish of Christ Church, Edmonton. Tammy-Jo has performed solo and chamber recitals in Canada, the US, Denmark and England, conducted in Australia and Korea, and has been recorded by CBC radio and television. She teaches at Concordia University and privately, is the harpsichordist for the Alberta Baroque Ensemble, and a handbell director at the Cosmopolitan Music Society. |
